Toyota new-vehicle sales experienced growth in June off the back of strong customer demand and increased model availability, with vehicle supply and model wait times set to improve in the second half of the year.
The new-generation HiLux led the way for Toyota in June with 5175 units, followed by the all-new RAV4 on 4,115 units, with 19,124 cumulative sales representing an 18 per cent month-on-month increase.
The increase in deliveries has been helped with the introduction of multiple new model grades to the market, including the bZ4X Touring battery-electric vehicle, RAV4 plug-in hybrid, and LandCruiser 300 Series performance hybrid – showcasing Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to offering a broad range of powertrain options for diverse customers.
The 19,124 June sales tally brings Toyota’s total 2026 volume to more than 95,000 units, with the second half of the year predicted to see a growth in sales as production volumes increase and wait times come down.
Following the allocation of an additional 10,000 units for Australia in early June, Toyota Australia has worked closely with its global partners to secure further stock to help satisfy strong demand, which has seen the 2026 sales forecast increase from 220,000 to 230,000 units.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations John Pappas said that increased supply of key models including HiLux, RAV4, Corolla Cross and bZ4X would play a key role in Toyota passing the 230,000 sales target for 2026.
“With the support of our global colleagues, we have again been able to secure additional production that has been prioritised for Australia,” Mr Pappas said.
“As such, we now anticipate finishing the year in excess of 230,000 sales. This would be the sixth year in our history that we would achieve this milestone.
“Importantly, in the first year of new generation models for both HiLux and RAV4, they are expected to finish 2026 as our two best-selling models for the seventh year running.”
Along with the increased HiLux volume, customer interest has been increasing for the first-ever HiLux BEV, with more than 300 orders for the zero-tailpipe-emission pick-up.
